KUCHING, June 7: Jacqualine Ayong from Kampung Simpok was crowned the winner of the Sarawak Federation of Women’s Institute (SFWI) Serian District Mrs Etnik beauty contest.
According to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Jacqualine took home a cash prize of RM1,000 and a trophy.
Philomena Dexclyin Siar was runner-up, winning RM700, while third place was won by Liusiana Lorentis Tabal from Kampung Taee, bagging RM500. They each were also presented with a trophy.
The remaining contestants were each presented with a certificate of participation.
A total of 20 contestants of various races and ethnicities participated in the contest, which was organised by SFWI and took place in Serian on Sunday (June 5).
Serian MP and Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan Dato Sri Richard Riot Jaem was the guest of honour.
Riot thanked the SFWI Serian District, led by its chairwoman Juto Nyuawe, for recruiting more than 400 new members in the past six months.
“I believe the SFWI can increase its membership if its members continue to work hard,” he said. — DayakDaily
