Indonesian killed after falling off 4WD

SARIKEI, Jan 31: An Indonesian man was killed after falling from the back of a moving four-wheel drive when travelling to work early this morning.

Sarikei district police chief, Supt Awang Arfian Awang Bujang, said the incident was believed to have occurred around 9am, at KM448 of the Betong/Sarikei/Meradong road.

“The victim, Sanawi of Bojonegoro Indonesia, was a construction worker. Initial investigation revealed that the victim, along with the driver, was on his way from Meradong to the construction site in Sarikei,” he said.

Awang Arfian added at the time of the incident, the vehicle shook as the road uneven and this caused the victim to fall off.

”The victim was seriously injured in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel,” he said in a statement.

Subsequently, the body of the victim was taken to Sarikei Hospital for further treatment.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
