KUCHING, Oct 29: A 62-year-old construction site worker died after allegedly being struck by a machinery track wheel in an incident at Kilometre 21, Jalan Lawas-Trusan, near Kampung Long Temarob, yesterday afternoon (Oct 28).
According to a TVS report, Lawas District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Liong Tindan, said the incident occurred at around 1.20pm. He said the machinery operator discovered the victim lying near the rear of the machine after being alerted by a colleague that the worker had been struck by its track wheel.
“The operator found the victim lying at the end of his machine, subsequently contacted the supervisor, and lodged a police report,” he said.
Liong stated that the case is still under police investigation and is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
In a separate incident, a 35-year-old local man died after being found lying inside a storage room at a government agency in Lawas yesterday morning.
Liong said the victim was discovered by a colleague at about 9.05am while the latter was on duty tidying up the storage room.
The colleague then contacted another co-worker before taking the victim to Lawas Hospital for treatment. However, the medical officer who examined him confirmed that he had died.
Police received a report on the incident at 12.03pm.
