Indonesian arrested in Mukah for murdering compatriot over black magic accusation

MUKAH, April 7: An Indonesian was arrested for allegedly killing his countryman in a workers’ quarters of a plantation last night.

The deceased, 32, was employed as a gardener.

Mukah District Police Chief, DSP Jimmy Panyau said the crime happened after the 31-year-old suspect got agitated after the deceased accused him of practising black magic.


He said at about 5.40am, all of the workers went out of their room to the plantation office except for the suspect and the deceased who stayed behind.

“At about 6am, the suspect went to take a knife which was placed inside a lorry. As he walked back to his room, the deceased started to accuse him of practising black magic,” he said.

However this was denied by the suspect.

“The deceased did not believe him and continued to accuse him of the matter,” Jimmy said, adding the suspect got angry and took out the knife and stabbed the deceased in the back.

A police team rushed to the plantation after being alerted about the incident.

The suspect was subsequently arrested for investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. — DayakDaily
