Illegal cigarettes worth RM48,188 seized in Kuala Suai

MIRI, Feb 11: Sarawak Marine Police Region Five (PPM) seized illegal cigarettes worth RM48,188 in an operation dubbed ‘Ops Landai’ early this morning from two premises at the night market held at an estate at Kuala Suai, Batu Niah.

During the raid, according to Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, PPM also detained two men aged 49 and 37, for questioning.

The suspects are the two premises’ respective caretakers.


The operation was led by ASP Dunsmore Intih.

Lim added, the first raid was carried out around 12.15am (Feb 11) which saw the marine police team seizing 52,000 sticks of cigarettes valued at RM36,400.

The team raided the second premises around 1am that same morning and seized 16,840 sticks of cigarettes worth around RM11,788.

All seized items were handed over to Miri police for further investigation.
