KUCHING, Sept 14: Using the hydrogen fuel-based autonomous rapid transit (ART) which produces no emissions, and no heat will help Sarawak contribute to reducing climate change, says Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Abang Johari said this today at the Sarawak Premier Special Award Presentation Ceremony (AKPS) 2022, which was held at a hotel here.

“Many disasters befall humanity, which is why we want to cool the world by limiting carbon production and utilising what is known as clean green energy.

“Sarawak is the only leading State in Asia to possess this hydrogen technology,” he said.

The Sarawak Premier revealed he met with an investor from Thailand this morning, an oil company that will produce gas in Bintulu, and that he has asked them to continue using gas as a raw material to produce products such as methanol, ammonia, hydrogen, nitrogen, and so on.

“If there is less carbon, our air will be cooler. However, the most important aspect is that it is converted into oil or energy machinery to power our gasless (sic) vehicles.

“We have already tried in Sarawak. We have hydrogen buses, hydrogen cars, we have produced 150kg of hydrogen, and it appears to be successful, and eventually we will have ART using hydrogen that is gasless and without heat for our city,” he added. — DayakDaily
