Hunting party finds skeletal remains in forest

BETONG, Oct 23: Skeletal remains believed to be that of a human was found by a group of villagers in Skrang yesterday.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department’s (Bomba) operations centre here, they were alerted of the find by the Skrang police station at 10pm.

It is believed that a group of villagers checking on their animal traps set in the forest area earlier at Bukit Rabung, Tabut, Skrang discovered the remains.


“Following the discovery, a Bomba team together with police and civil defence force made their way to the scene this morning.

The location of the remains is 1.3km from Rh Karin, Tabut, Skrang, a journey of about 20 minutes by foot from the longhouse.

“They arrived at 10.39am and found the remains at the site as reported.

Rescue personnel also recovered a shirt, hat and bag which they collected and bagged them together before handing them over to the police.

Forensic investigations will be carried out to identify the remains.
