MOH: 710 new Covid-19 cases nationwide with 10 deaths reported

KUCHING, Oct 23: Malaysia registered a total of 710 new cases of Covid-19 today, with 10 deaths reported.

According to the Ministry of Health (MOH) in a statement today, from the total number of cases recorded, 709 cases were local transmissions and one import case recorded in Kuala Lumpur.

“Sabah recorded the highest with 528 cases, followed by Selangor with 62 cases, Pulau Pinang (39), Negeri Sembilan (37), Labuan (19), Kuala Lumpur (11), Perak (four), Johor (four), Terengganu (2), Sarawak (2), and one each in Kedah and Pahang.


“This brings the total cumulative cases of positive Covid-19 in the country to 24,514 cases,” it disclosed.

The Ministry also noted as of today, a total of 8,416 cases are still active throughout the country, with 90 cases being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), and 28 of them under respiratory assistance.

“As of today, a total of 10 fatal cases involving Covid-19 were also recorded, bringing the total number of deaths involving Covid-19 to 214 cases (0.87 per cent),” it added.

Meanwhile, MOH also disclosed that a total of 467 cases of Covid-19 have recovered and discharged from the hospital.

“This brings the total cumulative of recovered and discharged cases involving Covid-19 in the country to 15,884 (64.80 per cent),” the statement read. –DayakDaily.
