Bomba creating “rain and rainbow” experience for 61 boys scheduled for mass circumcision

KUCHING, Nov 24:  Circumcision becomes a fun experience and a fond memory following Abang Bomba’s (the Fire and Rescue Department) creation of “dancing in rain and rainbow”  experience for 61 boys before a mass ‘berkhatan’ or circumcision.
For many young boys, the idea of being circumcised may be scary.  So Abang Bomba tried to help these boys by diverting their attention – by spraying them with water and letting the artificial rain shower upon these boys at a mass ‘berkhatan’ held at Darul Hana Mosque yesterday.
Mass circumcision for 61 boys at Darul Hana Mosque yesterday (Nov 23, 2019).
Clad in baju Melayu, the 61 boys, aged between five to 12, were first gathered at the waiting area where they were already very high spirited in anticipation of some good fun.  The fear of going through circumcision seemed to be the last thing on their minds.

They were then ushered to take part in a kompang (drum) procession and a special “shower” before a mass circumcision, a ritual every Muslim boy must go through.

The programme was organised by Land Custody Development Authority (LCDA) and in collabration with Tabung Baitumal Sarawak and Kampung Seberang Hilir village security committee (JAKASEH).  — DayakDaily
