MIRI, Nov 24: Single mothers are urged to undergo more skill training to improve their employability or so they can set up their own small businesses.

In making this call, Minister of Transport Datuk Lee Kim Shin said he would be willing to assist in liasing with the relevant institutions to conduct the training that these woman are interested in.

Lee disclosed this on Sunday at a ‘home pizza’ making course at Miri Community College here.

The event was organised by Miri Single Mothers Assistance Group.

A total of 27 women and children attended the course where they had hands-on experience in making their own homemade pizza.

Lee also added, that the programme was an excellent approach as the children will learn how to make pizzas not only for their own consumption but may also make them for sale, or sell the food online.

“The training can also motivate them to help their mothers to cook instead of relying on their mothers to cook for them. With the mothers and their children undergoing training together, it will also help to create stronger bonds between the mothers and their children,” he opined.
