Handgun found in toilet traced to state MP

KUCHING, May 18: A semi-auto Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun with six rounds of ammunition which was found in a toilet at Wisma Saberkas here is registered to a state Member of Parliament.

State CID chief SAC Dennis Leong said a police investigation revealed the handgun belongs to Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem.

A police team was despatched to the scene upon discovery of the gun by a security guard at about 8pm on May 16.

Leong also confirmed that Riot lodged a report at the Central Police Station at 10.40am this morning, pertaining to the loss of his handgun.

When contacted, Riot strongly denied that the gun found in Wisma Saberkas belonged to him

He said his gun is always with him.

Police are now investigating the case under Section 35 of the Arms Act 1960. — DayakDaily
