Hamidah Yakup welfare complex sets up fire squad

MIRI, August 13: The Hamidah Yakup Welfare complex in Tudan has formed a fire squad (KKHY fire squad) to prevent fire-related incidents at the complex.

The squad comprises 56 participants including children aged six to 17, 19 teachers and 20 family members.

According to Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Supt Law Poh kiong,the fire squad is the first to be established under the Sarawak Orphans Welfare Organisation (Peryatim).

Also present at the simple launching ceremony which was held on Saturday afternoon was Miri deputy mayor Julaihi Mohammad.

The fire squad will see the complex’s students and their wardens learning fire safety measures, both in theory and practice, and how to respond to emergencies. — DayakDaily
