BAU, Dec 12: Bringing infrastructure, economy, and social development will remain the three main thrusts for Serumbu incumbent Miro Simuh.

Miro, who will be defending the seat in the Dec 18 polls, said he had implemented all three agendas for the last five years and will continue to do so if re-elected.

“I see these are necessary to uplift the living standard of the people in the area,” Miro told reporters yesterday.

He said this at the opening of the Ayak Gallery in Siniawan here by the Federal Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Dato Sri Nancy Shukri.

Miro pointed out that the area already had infrastructure like roads but needed to be upgraded.

Similarly, economic activities like agriculture and tourism products have already been implemented and need to be improved.

On social, he said more engagement activities with the youth will continue to be carried out to prevent them from indulging in unhealthy activities like drug abuse, which will harm themselves and society.

Miro would not respond to the Opposition’s claims that there was no development in the area.

“On this, I leave it to the people to see for themselves what they have enjoyed from me the last five years,” he said.

He also said his campaign trail would not touch on racial and religious issues, knowing that Sarawak is a diverse society.

For the 12th Sarawak Election, Miro is defending the seat against four candidates from Aspirasi, Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK), Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), and Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB).

Miro contested as a Barisan Nasional direct candidate in the 2016 election against three other candidates.

He won with 1,397 majority votes. ā€• DayakDaily
