Miri GOF personnel seize lorry, fuel worth RM381,112

BINTULU, Jan 31: A Miri General Operations Force (GOF) 12th Battalion task force yesterday seized a lorry tanker and nearly 27,100 litres of diesel and petrol worth RM381,112 from a storage unit at Mile 8, Jalan Bintulu-Miri.

According to GOF Miri commanding officer Supt Tan Hiap Seng, three individuals were also detained to assist in the probe.


The raid was carried out around 11.20am in an operation dubbed ‘Ops Libas’.

“One of the suspects was the storage unit caretaker, while the other two were the tanker driver and his co-driver,” disclosed Tan, adding that the seized lorry tanker was carrying 16,000 litres of diesel.

The seizure comprised 9,400 litres of diesel, 1,700 litres of petrol, nine plastic water tanks and several mechanical pumps.

The seized items will be handed over to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Bintulu branch.

The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 for unlawful possession of controlled articles, which carries a fine of not more than RM1 million or up to three years’ imprisonment. — DayakDaily
