KUCHING, June 13: Political aide Muhammad Haziq Abdul Aziz has been given three days, from June 12, to reply to a show-cause letter on his actions implicating Economic Affairs Minister Dato Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali in a gay sex video clip.

Deputy Primary Industries Minister Datuk Seri sm said Haziq, who is his private secretary, has been suspended from his duties immediately while waiting for his reply to the show-cause letter.

“All investigation processes according to procedures have been carried out. First, he was suspended from his duties with immediate effect and second, he is to come up with a show-cause letter within three days from June 12 for his actions,” Shamsul told a press conference at his office in Putrajaya this afternoon.

He explained that he had tried to get in touch with Haziq through WhatsApp while on a working trip overseas on Tuesday (June 11) to discuss the issue as soon as he got back, but there was no reply.

Shamsul said Haziq had done his work well as his private secretary and showed no signs of being able to commit the acts that he had allegedly done.

“I was shocked because I recruited him. Even with the secretary-general of the ministry, there was no issue or problem with him. He did his job very well, and his actions were not expected and uncalled for,” Shamsul said, referring to Haziq’s allegations yesterday and today.

Meanwhile, in a separate press conference, Azmin’s political secretary Hilman Idham, who was named in Haziq’s latest confession this afternoon, has lodged a police report as well as with the Islamic Religious Department against Haziq.

Pressed by the media if he indeed did meet Haziq at a restaurant in Putrajaya on Tuesday, Hilman replied in the affirmative.

“I have given all the information and testify to the police. Let them investigate,” was all he said when pressed for further explanation. — DayakDaily
