KUCHING, Nov 22: Food Over Fire (FOF) and Hearth Brought to Light Theatre festival director Marian Chin has expressed her hope for the annual festival to become an international edition in the coming year.

The festival, scheduled over three days from Nov 24 to 27, focuses on highlighting Sarawak’s authentic culinary culture through the participation of rural village folks and farmers.

Chin emphasised the festival’s uniqueness in portraying Sarawak’s cultural authenticity through the performances of local villagers, providing a glimpse into rural life.

“We aim to have three times the number of international participants at the future festival and the theatre,” she enthused.

MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng commended the festival organisers for bringing this unique event to the heart of the city, highlighting the traditional hearths present in rural Sarawak communities.

“This is the beauty of creativity. No matter what else is going on in the world, the creative communities continue doing what they do best,” he said.

Wee said MBKS is very proud to be chosen as the location for this second run of the Food over Fire and Hearth Brought to Light festival.

“We do our best to support all activities and events which will bring benefit to the people of Kuching, like this unique festival,” he said.

Among the performers expected to perform at the festival will be known sape maestro Mathew Ngau. ā€” DayakDaily
