Flash floods force 54 from Kg Simunjan Jaya to evacuate

The flash flood which hit Kampung Simunjan Jaya.

SIMUNJAN, March 4: One temporary shelter has been opened to house 54 flash flood victims from Kampung Simunjan Jaya.

According to State Disaster Management Committee secretariat Major (PA) Ismail Mahedin, the villagers representing 18 families were relocated to Dewan Mesra Simunjan at 7pm last night.

Incessant rain yesterday caused parts of the district to be hit by flood waters, as high as three feet.


Civil Defence Force units and Fire and Rescue Department personnel helped to transport the flood victims, including eight senior citizens and three babies, from their homes to the hall. — DayakDaily
