Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed that gas was visibly escaping from a cylindrical pile at the construction site, and a safety perimeter was established. The cylindrical pile emitting the gas was temporarily sealed pending further inspection.

PETROS contractors identified the gas as methane (CH₄), with monitoring equipment recording a reading of 100 per cent of the Lower Explosive Limit (LEL), indicating a potentially explosive concentration.

The Bintulu hazardous materials (Hazmat) team will be deployed to the site to conduct further testing for the presence of other gases.

No construction work is currently being carried out at the site. — DayakDaily
