MIRI, May 8: In a swift response to a distress call, firefighters from Lutong fire station rushed to the aid of a three-year-old boy whose index finger was ensnared in a doorknob earlier today in Miri.

Responding to the call at 10.55am, the fire brigade arrived promptly at the residence located at Jalan Dato Permaisuri 2c, Lorong 8.

The distraught mother reported that her child’s right-hand index finger had become trapped in a doorknob.

Led by the station chief, Henry Jugah, the team assessed the situation and utilised specialised cutting equipment, including a ring cutter, to carefully free the boy’s hand.

After meticulous efforts, the operation concluded successfully at 12.09pm, with the young boy’s hand liberated from the ordeal.

However, due to minor injuries and bleeding, the victim and his mother were escorted by the firefighters to Tudan Health Clinic for immediate medical attention.

This incident marks the third time the child has found himself trapped by a doorknob, prompting the mother to seek assistance from Bomba. — DayakDaily
