KUCHING, July 6: A tanker carrying liquid oxygen sprung a leak after colliding with a second truck carrying construction stone at Bukit Saban, Betong this morning.

In a statement, the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre revealed the emergency call was received 10.58am and a team was despatched to the scene immediately.

The leak was traced to a valve on the tanker. Liquid oxygen is a cryogenic liquid and may cause severe burns.

Both heavy vehicle drivers were reported to be uninjured. As of press time, firefighters were in the process of cooling the heavy vehicles with water while emptying the tanker which was filled with the liquid oxygen. — DayakDaily
