MIRI, July 6: Despite rife speculations of election preparation surrounding the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) closed door meeting held on Saturday at its headquarters in Kuching, PBB vice president Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom has described it as a “normal meeting”.

“I don’t have the privy to divulge anything because I’m not there (at the meeting) as I was in  Kuala Lumpur,, but I believed they discussed ‘everything’,” he said when met today  after witnessing the handing over of the new Laku Management Sdn Bhd chairmanship to Datuk Nelson Balang Rining.

Last Saturday (July 4), almost all PBB top leaders were seen attending the meeting with  Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is also PBB president and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman.

Among those seen entering the PBB Headquarters were Deputy Chief Ministers, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and other PBB supreme council members.

Meanwhile Balang, who is also Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) secretary general and potential PDP candidate for Ba’kalalan in the coming state election, was nonchalant when asked if he would stand against Baru Bian of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB).

“It is up to the Chief Minister to decide whether I’m the winnable candidate to win the seat in the next state election..I cannot say that I am, it all depends on the Chief Minister,” he quipped.

PDP is one of the coalition parties under GPS; three other parties are PBB, Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) and Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS). -DayakDaily
