KUCHING, April 13: The Federal government has assured that Sarawak will be allocated sufficient vaccine supplies to complete the State’s target of inoculating 2.2 million Sarawakians including non-Sarawakians by the end of August.

This assurance was given by Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) Khairy Jamaluddin to Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah during their meeting in Putrajaya yesterday (April 12).

Uggah, who is also State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman, emphasised that Khairy’s assurance and kind gesture will greatly facilitate Sarawak’s plan to complete the immunisation programme.

“The Federal government has also recognised and appreciated the State immunisation roll-out programme.

“MOSTI, Ministry of Health (MOH) and others have indicated they are prepared to help us meet the deadline.

“So I am very optimistic our (vaccination) roll-out programme will be on schedule,” he said in a statement today.

Uggah, who was accompanied by Deputy State Secretary Datuk Ik Pahon on the working visit, was also briefed on the Sarawak Immunisation Rollout Programme as well as on the registration programme by MOH’s MySejahtera team.

“They are ready to help us particularly in incorporating all those registrations for the vaccination done manually into their system,” he added.

Toward this end, Uggah again reiterated his call for Sarawakians who had not registered themselves to be vaccinated to do so immediately.

“They can do this by three methods, either by registering through the MySejahtera mobile app or register through MOH vaccination website at www.vaksincovid.gov.my while those in the rural areas can approach their respective District or Resident’s offices to register themselves.

“I hope those concerned will do so immediately to allow us to prepare our vaccination schedule,” he advised.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Datuk Dr Adham Baba and his deputy Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang today paid a courtesy call on Uggah at his office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia.

Senior officers joining them also briefed Uggah on the Ministry’s current and upcoming efforts to help Sarawak fight the spike in positive cases reported daily.
