Farmers’ market, night market in red zone prohibited to open from Feb 15-March 1

KUCHING, Feb 14: The farmers’ markets, night markets, uptown, downtown and late night markets in the red zone of Covid-19 in Sarawak are prohibited to operate during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period from Feb 15 to March 1.

The red zones of Covid-19 in Sarawak are Julau, Subis, Lundu, Beluru, Kapit, Song, Dalat, Bintulu, Kanowit, Miri and Sibu.


In an updated standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the National Security Council (MKN) yesterday, it said fresh market, farmers’ market, night market, uptown market and late night market in CMCO area are allowed to operate until 10 pm with monitoring from the local authorities and the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela).

It added that shopping malls, shopping centres and retail stores are allowed to conduct businesses according to SOPs from 6 am until 10 pm.

Essential goods businesses, launderette, petrol stations are allowed to open from 6 am until 10 pm.

Dine-in with one metre physical distancing between customers according to the size of the table is allowed for food outlets and restaurants.

On another note, all religious activities in houses of worship during the CMCO period are not allowed. —DayakDaily
