KUCHING, August 2: The entry period for 32nd Kenyalang Journalism Awards 2020 submissions has been extended from January 1, 2019 to August 15, 2020 as opposed to the traditional practice of a one-year period.
“This extension is to allow the media in Sarawak to submit articles published up to August 15, which gives them more opportunities to submit articles published during this Covid-19 pandemic,” Federation of Sarawak Journalists Associations (FSJA) president Jacqueline David highlighted in a press statement today.
Among the categories being contested are the Chief Minister’s Award, Journalism Award (Feature and News Feature), News Reporting Award, Sports Reporting Award, Sustainability Journalism Award, Business and Economic Journalism Award, Community Well-being and Rural Development Journalism Award, and the Digital Economy Journalism Award.
“The article categories are further divided into Bahasa Melayu, English, Chinese and Iban categories.
“As for broadcast media and photography, categories include Broadcast Journalism Award, Photo Journalism Award, and Photography Essay Award,” Jacqueline added.
For each submission, entry is charged at RM5 per form, with forms available for purchase from local media associations.
The submission deadline to the Malaysian Press Institute is August 30, 2020.
Meanwhile, Jacqueline also revealed the awards ceremony will be held at Hilton Hotel Kuching on the evening of November 6, 2020.
The gold sponsors for this year’s competition are the Sarawak government, Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas), Sarawak Energy Berhad and Sarawak Shell Berhad. — DayakDaily
