Eight break MCO to play Blackjack

SIBU, April 7: Eight persons who tried to kill their boredom by indulging in illegal gambling have been arrested for defying the movement control order (MCO).

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the eight would be investigated under Regulation 7 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020 and Section 7(2) of the Common Gaming Houses Act.

At about 3.45pm on Monday (April 6), a police team from its criminal investigation department conducted a raid on the second floor of a shophouse in town for illegal gambling activity.


“Eight men aged between 22 to 32 were subsequently put under arrest for allegedly playing Blackjack,” he said.

The police had also seized from them a number of gambling items which included 297 chips, a table, eight plastic chairs, and RM364. —DayakDaily
