KUCHING, Aug 9: The relaxation of restrictions for fully vaccinated individuals in Sarawak will be implemented once the proposed standard operating procedures (SOPs) are approved by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

SDMC in a statement today said it welcomed the announcement by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday to ease certain restrictions for fully vaccinated individuals staring tomorrow (Aug 10).

The committee added that it is finalising the SOPs including seeking advice from medical experts on easing the restrictions.

Nonetheless, the committee pointed out that the current SOPs still apply until the SOPs for Phase Three of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) for Sarawak have been gazetted.

SDMC added it took into consideration of the benefits of fully vaccinated individuals such as the mental and physical health of the rakyat as well as the recovery of the country’s economy in determining the relaxation of the restrictions in Sarawak.

Meanwhile, Sarawak is currently in Phase Three of NRP but the southern zones which include Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Lundu, Bau, Tebedu and Asajaya remained in Phase Two of NRP.

Yesterday, Muhyiddin in a live telecast explained that a person is certified as fully vaccinated 14 days after his or her second dose for two-dose vaccines like Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca and Sinovac, and 28 days after receiving shots from single-dose vaccines like Johnson & Johnson and CanSino.

Among the relaxation of SOPs for fully vaccinated people are interstate travel for couples and parents, attending prayers at mosques and houses of worship, dine-in at restaurants, carrying out non-contact sporting activities outdoors and at clubhouses and travelling with stays in hotels and homestays.

The prime minister said fully vaccinated individuals must show the proof of vaccination through their digital certificate in their MySejahtera app before being allowed entry into premises. — DayakDaily
