KUCHING, March 24: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) will switch off lights at its offices, parks and facilities under its jurisdiction for an hour on Saturday (March 26) in support of Earth Hour 2022.
MBKS in a press statement today said, the lights will be switched off for one hour starting from 8.30pm until 9.30pm.
Among the areas affected are City Hall, Taman Kuching, Dewan Masyarakat, Song Kheng Hai Hawker Centre, Stutong Community Market, and Saradise commercial area.
The movement will also see the participation of other establishments, namely Kingwood Inn, Kuching Park Hotel, Pullman Hotel, Penview Hotel Shopping Malls, as well as shopping malls such as CityOne Mall, VivaCity Mall and Aeon Mall.
“Therefore, the public is kindly advised of the above event as some of the council’s facilities, parks and areas will be in darkness for one hour,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, MBKS also invites the public to take part in Earth Hour 2022 and help amplify its mission and impact.
According to the council, Earth Hour aims to increase awareness and spark global conversations on protecting nature, tackling the climate crisis, and working together to shape a brighter future for everyone.
