KUCHING, March 7: Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian’s seven-day quarantine following his Covid-19 infection on March 1, has ended today.

However, he said, his body especially his lungs will take time to recover from the viral infection, which he intends to facilitate by performing lung exercises.

After personally experiencing the symptoms, he shared, Covid-19 is “definitely not mild like flu” and would pose challenges to the elderly as well as high-risk individuals with diabetes, obesity and blood pressure issues.

Dr Sim, who is also Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, said during the Covid-19 recovery phase, usually from the 7th to 10th day of infection, there is still a potential risk of systemic inflammation.

Thus, he urged Covid-19 patients like himself not to be complacent after the seven-day quarantine and to be aware of appropriate anti-inflammatory measures.

Paraphernalia and medicine used to treat Dr Sim’s Covid-19 infection.

Other than testing negative for Covid-19 after taking a RTK Antigen self-test this morning, he was also issued a completed home isolation or surveillance order with his MySejahtera app refreshed to ‘Low Risk’ status.

“My sincerest thanks to everyone, my family, relatives, staff, friends, supporters, colleagues, ID SGH… for their prayers, support, thoughts and so on over the last seven challenging days,” he said in a social media post today.

Meanwhile, Dr Sim said he was impressed with MySejahtera’s Home Assessment Tool (HAT) feature which helps Covid-19 patients and users to keep track of their health conditions while in quarantine. — DayakDaily
