Dr Jerip approves RM250k for construction of Bak Ban Kukot Waterfall walkway

KUCHING, April 22: The construction of a 3.5 kilometer walkway at Bak Ban Kukot Waterfall in Kampung Sadir is expected to start by August this year.

Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) in a statement today said Assistant Minister of Transport, who is also Mabong assemblyman, Datuk Dr Jerip Susil has approved an allocation of RM250,000 for the construction of the walkway.

According to Jerip’s Special Officer Robert Keron Mapus, the project aims to shorten the travel time of visitors to and from the Bak Ban Kukot Waterfall to enjoy its beauty, which also includes basic facilities such as toilets and changing rooms.

He said the project is one of the eco-tourism development agenda brought to the Ulu Padawan area which features beautiful waterfalls and unique natural views.

At the same time, Micheal Uok, who is one of the committee members from Kampung Sadir, also conveyed his delight and gratitude to Dr Jerip for his continuous support of the infrastructure development in the Ulu Padawan area.

On Tuesday (April 20), a delegation from the Kuching Public Works Department (JKR) and Mambong constituency Service Center made a visit to the project site. — DayakDaily
