KUCHING, April 22: The 14-day quarantine order will be maintained for entry into Sarawak and those who have come into contact with Covid-19 positive cases, among others.

State Health director Dr Chin Zin Hing emphasised this in responding to a news report titled ‘No need for 14-day quarantine for workers once vaccinated’ published on April 20.

“Therefore, the Sarawak State Health Department would like to clarify that the above statement on no need for quarantine specifically refers to the Covid-19 vaccination and the period immediately after receiving vaccination.

“This is responding to questions asked by members of the public whether a person needs to be quarantined for 14 days immediately after receiving vaccination,” he explained in a statement today.

Dr Chin reiterated that it does not apply to quarantine due to other reasons such as being a contact to a positive case, entering Sarawak and so on.

In the report, Dr Chin had explained that employers do not have to get their workers quarantined for two weeks after they received their Covid-19 jabs.

However, he reminded that those who have been partially and fully vaccinated must continue to adhere to basic standard operating procedures (SOPs) including wearing of face masks, maintaining physical distancing, hand sanitising and other protective measures when in public places.

“Precautionary measures are important regardless of the location.

“The risk is low if a person wears a mask, maintains physical distancing and practices hand sanitising at the vaccination centre. Even after vaccination, the public need to take care as long as the virus still exists,” he advised. — DayakDaily
