KUCHING, Mar 6: State Health director Dr Chin Zin Hing has refuted the allegation made by Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii on medical frontliners in Sarawak being threatened by the Ministry of Health (MoH) over postings on Facebook.
Dr Chin in a statement today clarified that there is no such issue of Sarawak Health Department threatening staff over Facebook criticism.
“I have checked with the Director-General (DG)’s Office in Putrajaya. His Special Officer had said this was a non-issue in Sarawak.
“The issue is only in Kelantan and Serdang in Selangor and at the Ministry level,” said Dr Chin.
Dr Chin was responding to a recent media statement by Dr Yii who said the government and MoH should not threaten and instil fear in medical front liners for speaking up.
Earlier, Dr Yii also said he had strong concerns about a circular by MoH, warning all staff not to make comments on the Covid-19 vaccination plan or post pictures on social media.
The Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak member also said the MoH should seriously look at the allegations made rather than going after those who brought up the complaints. —DayakDaily
