KUCHING, Jan 24: Seeing that it is compulsory for all families celebrating Chinese New Year (CNY) this year to have their visitors register their details, why not create a MySejahtera QR code for your homes?

As these registration QR codes are often seen at entrances to every coffee shop, restaurant, hair parlour, grocery store and even wet market in Sarawak, it is most practical and convenient to also create them for homes to record the whereabouts of family members during this festive season.

According to instructions on the MySejahtera official website, there are four easy steps and it would only take a few short minutes.

First, go to https://mysejahtera.malaysia.gov.my/checkin/ through any web browser and sign up your mobile number.

Step 3: Fill in the details of your location.

A six-digit OTP number would be sent to the registered mobile number within five minutes. Key them in and move on to the next step.

Do bear in mind that one mobile number can only be signed up with one QR code.

Next, fill in the name, contact name and address of your home. For premise category, ‘Private/Social Events’ would be the most suitable selection for Chinese New Year visitings.

For sub category, simply pick a relevant option for the type of events to be held.

After submitting the details, the QR code would be generated. It is that simple.

You can either print the QR code directly, or choose to e-mail or download the document for printing later on.

Step 4: Download and print the QR code.

With CNY around the corner and some families already putting up decorations such as red lanterns, door couplets, Chinese knots and plum flowers, just add one more thing into the list—a small booth for temperature measuring and registration.

The mood and atmosphere for celebration this time may not be as strong as previous years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but it remains a tradition for family members to get together and simply enjoy each other’s company.

While visiting of close family members is still allowed on the first day of CNY (Feb 12) limited to a maximum of only 20 people, please be reminded to obey the standard operating procedures released by the Ministry of Local Government and Housing.

Other celebrations that are allowed throughout Sarawak are reunion dinners on the eve of CNY and ‘Chap Goh Mei’ but not at hotels or restaurants. — DayakDaily
