SDMC makes U-turn on dining-in following emergence of 17 Covid-19 Delta variant cases in Kuching

KUCHING, July 13: Dine-ins at eateries and restaurants have been temporarily put on hold until the Local Government and Housing Ministry (MLGH) issues new standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the prevention of Covid-19.

Following the detection of more Delta variant cases in Kuching by Universiti Malaysia Sarawak’s Institute of Health and Community Medicine (IHCM), the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its daily Covid-19 update report today said dine-ins will not be allowed until the new SOPs from MLGH is released.

The committee said MLGH will re-evaluate and update the SOPs for dine-in at eateries under Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

As Sarawak enters Phase Two of the NRP tomorrow (July 14), dine-ins were initially allowed as announced by SDMC last Sunday.

Other business activities allowed during Phase Two of NRP in Sarawak include barber shops, electrical shops, car wash businesses, fashion boutiques, Sunday markets, phone retail and accessories shops, flower shops, furniture shops and cybercafes.

Businesses are allowed to operate from 6am to 10 pm while permitted workforce capacity for the private sector can be increased to 50 per cent from 30 per cent under Phase One of NRP. — DayakDaily
