KUCHING, May 31: The Hari Gawai Dayak 2026 Open House, hosted by Deputy Premier of Sarawak Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, is set to welcome members of the public on Monday (June 1) at the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) Complex here.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), the event will open its doors from 9am, inviting visitors from all walks of life to come together in celebration of Gawai Dayak in an atmosphere of unity, harmony and cultural appreciation.

Uggah, who is also the organising chairman for the open house, has been overseeing preparations to ensure all logistical arrangements, cultural performances and programme segments are in place for the major celebration.

The open house will feature a variety of cultural performances and official programmes highlighting the rich traditions and significance of Gawai Dayak as one of Sarawak’s major festivals.

Officers from the Sarawak Protocol, Ceremonial and Event Management Unit (UPPAN), together with relevant agencies, are also involved in coordinating the event to ensure smooth execution.

The celebration is expected to draw a large and diverse crowd, including State leaders and members of the public, reflecting Sarawak’s strong multiracial unity.

It is also expected to be attended by Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg as well as Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof.

The open house forms part of the annual Gawai Dayak celebration, serving as a platform to strengthen goodwill, understanding and togetherness among Sarawak’s diverse communities. — DayakDaily
