KUCHING, Feb 24: Deputy Premier of Sarawak Dato Dr Sim Kui Hian is cautiously optimistic about Sarawak’s share of the Budget 2023 and the return of a larger share for her contribution.
“’The devil is in the details’, for example, how much (is) budget allocation for the ongoing projects and how much is truly for the new projects?” he questioned in a statement today.
Nevertheless, Dr Sim who is also the Sarawak Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, implied that the budget for Sarawak is a better offer compared to the previous Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration particularly on the review of special grants to Sabah and Sarawak under Article 112D of the Federal Constitution.
“Regarding funding under Article 112D, although (it) is on interim while pending for the formula, RM300 million is a good start compared to the same Federal PH government in 2019 offering Sarawak RM40 million only.
“Fortunately, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government back then despite the cheap publicity of PH politicians against GPS government, stood up for Sarawakians and Sarawak,” he added. — DayakDaily
