DARO, Aug 20: The 29-hectare forest fire at Kampung Kut has been completely extinguished following a 10-day operation involving firefighters from Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Daro Station and several supporting agencies.
The operation, which began on Aug 10, saw the blaze brought under control through coordinated firefighting efforts across three sectors along Jalan Tanjung Gelang.
According to the Bomba Sarawak, the operation involved personnel from Bomba Daro, with assistance from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), Daro Volunteer Fire Brigade (PBS) and Pulau Bruit PBS.
The operation yesterday (Aug 19) was divided into three sectors to ensure comprehensive firefighting efforts.
Sector A covered the area behind the petrol station near the birdhouse, where firefighters deployed a Forest Pump. Sector B focused on the central part of the fire area using a PBS Water Pump.
Meanwhile, Sector C covered the area behind the Celcom telecommunications tower near Buraq Oil Station. Firefighters deployed a Forest Pump and approximately 500 feet of hose in the sector, while the total flooding technique was also used to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby areas.
Following the operation, the entire 29-hectare fire-affected area was declared fully extinguished, with no remaining hotspots detected.
The operation concluded at 5.30pm after personnel from all agencies involved were briefed on the latest situation at the Fire Control Post (PKB). — DayakDaily
