Covid-19: Sarawak retains clean streak on Gawai Dayak eve

KUCHING, May 31: Today marks the fourth consecutive day of zero positive Covid-19 cases reported in Sarawak.

The last recorded cases were on May 27, which saw three positive Covid-19 cases reported on that day — two cases from Kuching and one case from Kota Samarahan.


The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today revealed that the number of cumulative positive cases in Sarawak remains at 552 cases.

It also disclosed that seven Covid-19 patients from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) have recovered and were discharged today.

With this, the total number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19 has increased to 508 with the recovery rate at 92.03 per cent of total cases.

Nonetheless, SDMC revealed there were 80 new persons-under-investigation (PUI) today while there are 22 PUI cases still awaiting laboratory results.

Concerning the PUI cases in Belawai, Tanjung Manis, SDMC said out of 339 samples taken, the results of 242 samples tested negative whilst the remaining 97 samples are awaiting results.

On another note, the committee revealed that there were 214 Sarawakian returnees today classified as persons-under-surveillance (PUS) and quarantined at various hotels throughout the state.

A total of 955 Sarawakians are still quarantined at various hotels throughout the state whilst 12,349 PUS completed their 14-day quarantine period today. — DayakDaily
