Covid-19: No new cases, two recoveries in Sarawak

KUCHING, May 30: Sarawak recorded no new Covid-19 cases and two recoveries today.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement today, informed that the state tally of positive cases stood at 552 and 17 deaths.

As for the recoveries, the two patients who have recovered and been discharged were from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).


Overall, Sarawak recorded 501 recoveries or 90.76 per cent of total positive cases so far.

Meanwhile, SDMC revealed that 91 of the 339 samples collected in Belawai, Tanjung Manis yesterday (May 29) have returned negative while 248 samples are still awaiting laboratory test results.

As of today, 33 patients are being treated in hospitals throughout the state with one in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

There are 29 patients treated in SGH, while Sibu Hospital (3) and Bintulu Hospital (1).

Five districts in Sarawak are still labelled yellow zone, which is 40 or fewer Covid-19 cases, namely Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Bintulu and Tanjung Manis.

Meanwhile, the state also registered 12 more person-under-investigation (PUI) cases today while 27 cases are still awaiting laboratory test results.

There are also 447 more person-under-surveillance (PUS) have been checked in to identified hotels to undergo compulsory 14-day quarantines.

As of today, there are a total number of 854 individuals undergoing quarantine in 38 hotels.

On Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) compliance, SDMC reported that 17 violators were arrested today while 19 members of the public have been issued compound for attempting to travel across district without police permit.—DayakDaily
