Covid-19 infections in red zone increases, status quo for district classification

KUCHING, Feb 24: The number of Covid-19 infections in districts classified as red zones for Corvid-19 infections in Sarawak has increased.

Nevertheless, there were no changes in the severity of a district from one to another which signalled whether the Covid-19 situation in that district has improved or worsened.


According to State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a press statement today, Meradong, Kuching, Samarahan, Julau, Subis, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu remained as red zones of Covid-19 with a total of 2,319 cases of Covid-19 in the past 14 days.

As compared to yesterday, there were a total of 2,103 cases, an increase of 213 new cases.

The Kanowit, Betong, Song, Bukit Mabong, Beluru, Dalat and Sri Aman stayed as orange zones of Covid-19 with a cumulative 201 cases of Covid-19 in the past fortnight.

The Sarikei, Lundu, Bau, Matu, Selangau, Saratok, Sebauh, Tatau, Pakan, Serian and Belaga districts also remained as yellow zones of Covid-19 with a cumulative 64 cases of local infections in the past two weeks.

13 other districts namely Lawas, Daro, Simunjan, Lubok Antu, Telang Usan, Asajaya, Limbang, Tanjung Manis, Tebedu, Mukah, Pusa, Kabong and Marudi were in green zones and reported zero cases of Covid-19 in the past 14 days. —DayakDaily
