Covid-19 cases in Sarawak fall to 124

KUCHING, March 22: The number of coronavirus cases in Sarawak decreased to 124 from 276 reported yesterday.

According to a press statement from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the Covid-19 cases reported in Sarawak today were derived from Sibu (38), Miri (20), Samarahan (16), Bintulu (14), Kuching (13), Tanjung Manis (7), Kapit (5), Julau (3), Selangau (3), Saratok (1), Sarikei (1), Sebauh (1), Serian (1) and Telang Usan (1).


With the 124 cases reported, the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Sarawak has increased to 14,374.

SDMC said 23 out of the 124 cases reported were symptomatic while 95 of them were under quarantine.

The committee disclosed that there were also three imported cases involving individuals who returned from Taiwan, Mexico and Central Africa respectively.

In the meantime, a total of 217 Covid-19 patients recovered, bringing total recoveries of coronavirus in Sarawak to 11,605 persons or 80.74 per cent of the overall cases in the state.

Nevertheless, a total of 2,623 Covid-19 patients are still being treated at hospitals and low risk quarantine centres throughout the state.

There were no new death cases reported. — DayakDaily
