KUCHING, Feb 1: Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued an alert for continuous rainfall expected to affect Miri and Limbang until Feb 4.
Weather pattern analysis indicates an expected concentration of wind in East Malaysia until Feb 4 could cause an increase in humidity that may potentially bring continuous rain in Sarawak and Sabah during this period.
In an advisory issued at 3.30pm today, warnings for thunderstorms and heavy rain have also been issued for Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu (Tatau), Miri (Subis, Beluru, Telang Usan and Marudi) and Limbang until 6pm.
This warning is in effect due to the potential of severe weather conditions, including thunderstorms with a rain intensity exceeding 20mm/hour, either occurring or expected to last for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term advisory lasting up to six hours for a single release.
The public is strongly urged to stay informed by checking MetMalaysia’s official website www.met.gov.my, following the department’s official account on social media platforms, and downloading the MyCuaca app for the latest and authentic weather information. — DayakDaily
