CMCO: Majority of 61 compounds issued to loiters with no reasonable excuse

KUCHING, May 3: Most compounds issued by the police on standard operating procedures (SOPs) violation today was on the people’s failure in providing a reasonable excuse for being out of the house during Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement issued today said the police had issued a total of 61 compounds in Bintulu (21), Kuching (20), Miri (18) and Padawan (two) for various SOPs violation


“While a total of 21 people were compounded for loitering in public with no solid reason, others were slapped with compounds for cockfighting (12), visiting premises operating beyond permitted hours (seven), operating business premises beyond permitted hours (seven), carrying out prohibited activities in entertainment centres (seven), not wearing face masks (four), not practising social distancing (two) and not scanning MySejahtera (one).

“This brings the total number of compounds issued since March 18 last year to 6,194 so far,” the committee said.

Meanwhile, the Sarawak Ministry of Local Government and Housing (MLGH) has issued 10 compounds under the supervision of Dalat and Mukah District Council (eight) and Miri City Council (two) for violating SOPs.

The violations included incomplete record book entries (seven), failure to practise social distancing (two) and not wearing face mask (one).

This brings the total number of compounds issued by local authorities since Feb 1 this year to 166. — DayakDaily
