CM receives courtesy calls from WHO rep, Korean company

KUCHING, May 3: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg received a courtesy call from the Head of Mission and World Health Organisation (WHO) representative to Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam and Singapore, Dr Lo Ying-Ru Jacqueline, at his office at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.

During the courtesy call, Abang Johari and Dr Lo exchanged views on the measures taken by Sarawak government to prevent the further spread of rabies in the state, as well as other related health issues.

WHO, a specialised agency of the United Nations that is concerned with international public health, was set up on April 7, 1948, and is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.


Also present at the meeting was Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.

Abang Johari also received a courtesy call by the president and CEO of KCC Corporation, Mong Ik Chung at his office at Sarawak Legislative Assembly Complex.

KCC Corporation is a Korean chemical and auto parts manufacturer based in Seoul, South Korea.

During the half-hour meeting, the chief minister, Mong and members of his delegation discussed the prospect of a collaboration in line with Sarawak’s industrialisation programme.

Also present was Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, who is also the Minister of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development, assistant ministers of the ministry and key officials of KCC Corporation. — DayakDaily
