KUCHING, Dec 14: Gabungan Parti Sarawak leaders (GPS) in Balai Ringin and Sri Aman with integrity and who are unlike “political frogs” will ensure development progresses smoothly in Pantu, which has been elevated into a new district, focusing on the new digital economy.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the people are the ones who will be suffering if politicians jumped from one political party to another.

Pantu is located within the constituencies of Balai Ringin and Bukit Begunan, whereby Balai Ringin incumbent Datuk Snowdan Lawan who is also GPS’ candidate for N30 Balai Ringin seat and Bukit Begunan incumbent Datuk Mong Dagang who is also GPS’ candidate for N31 Bukit Begunan seat are contesting in the 12th Sarawak Election on Dec 18.

“We have leaders who have integrity. Here we have Datuk Mong, Snowdan and others.

“They do not go from one place to another.

“The leaders are serving the people of Sarawak and not for self-interest,” he said during a ceremony on the elevation of Pantu to a full district at the Pantu Community Hall here today.

With the elevation of Pantu as a district, Abang Johari said Pantu will need a new administrative complex and more manpower to facilitate the implementation and delivery of government services.

He assured that the GPS government will deliver on the administrative complex as it requires funding to build the complex.

With Pantu being a district, he said officers in the district office can also promote it as a tourism hotspot to build up the local economy.

On continuous development in Pantu, Abang Johari asserted that the people must be on the same page in order for the GPS government to bring continuous development.

Among those present at the ceremony were State Secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion, Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) acting president Datuk Joseph Salang, Snowdan Lawan, Mong, Sri Aman Resident Datu Indit Bangai and Sri Aman District Officer Asree Wee. — DayakDaily
