Chung Hua Middle School No 1 triumphs in ‘ShallWeeDance Challenge 2024’, MBKS CNY music video gets over 100k views on YouTube

KUCHING, April 3: The Kuching South City Council’s (MBKS) ‘ShallWeeDance Challenge 2024’ has concluded successfully, with the dance club of Chung Hua Middle School No 1 taking first prize, followed by SK Song Kheng Hai in second place and Kuching Love Book Association in third place.

According to MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, Chung Hua Middle School No 1’s dance club received 1,300 likes for its music video, while SK Song Kheng Hai received 767 likes and Kuching Love Book Association received 540 likes.

Several contestants were also recognised with consolation prizes for their outstanding contributions to the challenge.

The individuals and organisations included are Kirstyn Ho Yong Xu, Jill Tiong, Tyng Dance, Sarawak Buddhist Association Kindergarten, Tan Jia Xin, Kelly Ngu, Jay Runako Yusuf, Ooi Shee Le, Lu Sin Ee, Mine Dance Studio, Joseph Chaong, Krystal Lee, and Lucy Ang.

As per a press handout, the challenge resulted in an impressive array of dance renditions shared across various social media platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram.

The judging process, which lasted from Feb 1 to 8, consisted of two rounds, culminating in the selection of the top 16 winners based on the number of likes received on their respective videos.

In the meantime, the mayor highlighted that the ‘MBKS – 2024 Sarawak ‘Every Sings Chinese New Year Song Together ‘Let’s Get Together’’ music video has garnered 109,697 views on YouTube since its release in January 2024.

“I believe we did a good job. It’s very encouraging, especially since this is our first time releasing a Chinese New Year music video,” he said during a press conference held today at the MBKS building here.
