KUCHING, April 3: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), in collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), has successfully dismantled an online network facilitating ‘swinger’ activities, involving the swapping of spouses, in Kedah and Johor recently.

These illicit swinger group activities came to light following public complaints and diligent monitoring by MCMC.

A media statement released today by MCMC revealed that a joint operation conducted by its Enforcement Division and the police in Kedah and Johor uncovered swinger groups possessing a large number of pornographic videos.

“As a result of the raid, authorities seized suspects’ mobile phones, computers, and thumb drives for further investigation.

“Three suspects, aged between 39 and 50, were found to be acting as administrators (admins) for the X platform (previously known as Twitter) hosting the swinger group. They were also found to be selling pornographic materials for profit,” the statement said.

MCMC added that the suspects’ modus operandi involved uploading short video clips on platform X, with interested parties charged between RM100 to RM400 for access links to full-length videos via the Telegram application.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (Act 588), which carries severe penalties including a maximum fine of RM50,000 or imprisonment for up to one year, or both, upon conviction.

The public is urged to refrain from engaging in activities that contravene the country’s laws, including the misuse of network services and online applications, and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the authorities. — DayakDaily
