KUCHING, June 8: A sizeable crowd comprising visitors from near and far, as well as from various fields, visited the Sarawak Centre of Technical Excellence (Centexs) Open Day 2022 and were impressed by the technology on display.

The event aims to provide visitors with the opportunity to see for themselves the technology available at Centexs for simultaneous learning purposes, as well as to attract young people interested in programmes in digital technology and technical skills.

Jarret Barnard, 40, who is an English language lecturer from Teacher Education Institute Batu Lintang Campus (IPGKBL), told DayakDaily that the ‘Centexs Digital Academy Showcases’ provided him and his team with new experiences, and that because they are in the education industry, what they saw and learned can help trainee teachers in the future to prepare for the digital age.

“As a new era of education begins, we hope that trainee teachers will have a better understanding of how to use technology,” Jarret added.

Centex, Huawei, Eon Reality, Keysight, Bosch Rexroth, Petrosains, and Sarawak Metro, among others, took part in the ‘Centexs Digital Academy Showcases’, where they demonstrated immersive technologies, Internet-of-Things (IoT), Android Mobile Application Development, Digital Marketing, and 5G.
