Body of 15yo croc attack victim in Kuching found with limbs missing, neck torn

KUCHING, Dec 24: The body of a 15-year-old boy who was snatched by a crocodile while fishing near Lorong Cahaya 4E in Bandar Baru Samariang, Kuching, yesterday (Dec 23) was found today.

Petra Jaya Bomba station chief Latif Iring told reporters at the scene of the incident today that the family has confirmed that the victim, Mohamad Faqrul Zaimi Jeffri, is indeed their son.

“The victim was discovered floating 2km away from the reported attack site, specifically on the right side of Sungai Loba Kanan.

“We have also notified the police to transport the victim to the hospital for a physical examination.

“Alhamdulillah (Thank God), the operation went smoothly without any unexpected events,” he said.

He continued by stating that the victim was discovered at 11am, with some of his limbs missing and his neck torn.

Latif also strongly advised residents to refrain from fishing in areas where ‘No Fishing’ signs have been placed.

“And I’d like to remind all mothers and fathers to keep an eye on their children’s movements at all times.

“Do not allow them to go down to the river, especially in Samariang, where fishing is prohibited,” he added. — DayakDaily
