BE-IN 2022 aims to identify and groom e-sports talents in Sarawak

KUCHING, Sept 11: Borneo ESports Incubator (BE-IN) 2022 aims to identify and develop e-sports talents in the State.

Serba DigitalX general manager Abdul Qaiyum Alidin said the programme will identify talented players and at the same time promote e-sports not only in Sarawak but also at higher levels.

“Organised through the collaboration of Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) and Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), BE-IN 2022 will emphasise on e-sports and the digital economy agenda in line with Sarawak’s aspiration to become a developed State by 2030.

“This is the beginning of the BE-IN initiatives, and this programme will be organised every year,” he told reporters after the launching ceremony for BE-IN 2022 at D-Arena Event Space at D-Virtual Park in Kota Samarahan today.

Abdul Qaiyum explained BE-IN 2022 is designed with a variety of programmes to scout for existing talent through e-sports competitions, provide them with the necessary training and expose them to higher level competition.

“It is also hoped that this programme can provide the opportunity for new talents to shine,” he added.

BE-IN 2022 aims to incubate and develop local talents in the e-sports industry be it professional players, streamers, casters or even behind-the-scenes crew such as e-sports production teams and tournament organisers.

There are 3 stages in the BE-IN programme. Stage 1 involves community engagement by conducting outreach programmes through the implementation of an e-sports tournament series, while Stage 2 is the selection and development phase with a series of workshops and training for the selected participants involving modules covering careers in e-sports, OBS management and handling, and healthy gaming.

Stage 3bis the incubation phase where the participants during the incubation period will be provided with personal coaching sessions with abprofessional coach, including three months of free access to the E-sports Centre in Kota Samarahan. — DayakDaily
