KUCHING, April 13: Sarawak Esports Association (Sesa) will organise the Senator Esports Cup 2023 Series 1 on May 6 and 7 together with a charity fundraising event.

The Senator Esports Cup 2023 Series 1 will take place at the Atrium of Boulevard Shopping Mall Kuching and feature 32 teams with 192 players of mobile multiplayer online battle arena game Mobile Legends Bang-Bang and 32 teams of 160 players of PUBG Mobile battling it out for the top spot, with a prize pool of RM4,000.

Speaking during a press conference, Senator Dato Ahmad Ibrahim said the two-day event will be organised for the first time for Sarawakians.

“Why is it named the Senator Esports Cup? It is because I hope that when I am not a senator anymore, this event will continue and the new senator will pick up this idea to support the e-sports scene in Sarawak,” he said.

He also hoped that the competition will become a stimulus for future events.

“Hopefully we will have a bigger budget and organise a bigger event in the future,” he added.

During the event, a youth gathering will also be organised for the coming Hari Raya celebrations, including a charity donation drive with a goal of raising RM5,000 for S.O.S Kids, a charity that provides help and assistance to critically sick children and their families in the community.

Registration details for the tournament will be published in the Sarawak Esports Association‘s Facebook Page, and those interested can follow the Sarawak Esports Association social media accounts for the latest news and updates about the event. — DayakDaily
